We have anchored our modular model in scientific practice, by developing it n conjunction with a domain-specific analysis of a corpus of articles on experimental molecular dynamics. We have analysed printed articles and recast the information contained in these linear articles in modular form. This led to the formulation of our modular model for experimental science in general, and the formulation of domain-specific rules for writing modular articles on experimental molecular dynamics in particular. In this section, we describe how we have developed the modular model. First we explain why we have modularised existing articles from a particular corpus. Then we discuss the actual development of the model.
