Gudea with the Gushing Vase shows the prince in his usual costume, holding against his chest a vase from which spurts out streams of fish, the attributes of the god of the abyss and the god Ningirsu ; the motif is re-expressed on the base. On the front of his robe is inscribed a dedication to the godess of the reviving water, Gashtinanna; and on his right shoulder: “Gudea, prince of Lagash, who built the temple of Ningishzidda and the temple of Gashtinanna”
